Kelsey Clarke Grode is a graduate of Stanford University. In her time at Stanford, she specialized in development economics in East Asia, culminating in an honors thesis focusing on technology startups in China. Post-graduation, Kelsey went to work for Sequoia Capital, a venture capital firm whose partnerships include Apple, Google, Yahoo, Square, and Instagram. Kelsey worked to build internal software applications and create content for Sequoia that supported both the international investment team and marketing efforts.
In 2013, with a greater appreciation for the nonlinear path, Kelsey left Sequoia to explore content creation. Using her passion for writing and understanding of technology, she both ghostwrites books and helps her clients manage their digital presence and brand. The projects she has supported range from a self-help manual applying survival wisdom to everyday life, to a web series on the importance of de-institutionalizing web dev deployments, to addiction memoirs, to cozy mysteries. Her clients are creative and driven executives, aspiring novelists, memoirists, and professionals from around the world who have a unique viewpoint but benefit from having help articulating and communicating their mission.
When not writing, Kelsey is an avid fan of the outdoors (as much as one can be in Los Angeles) and passionate collector of rare books, particularly those related to the establishment of a women’s literary history. She watches a lot of reality TV to balance this out. At age 13, her life dream was realized when, under her tutelage, her family dog auditioned for and won the role of ‘Sandy’ in a local theater production of ‘Annie.’ Everything since has just been gravy
